Selected highlights from September 2025
Number of active charging points: The share of AC charge points is gradually decreasing - from around 79.2% (08/2024) to 76.6% (09/2025). HPC has become increasingly important, rising from 13.1% to 15.7% within one year. DC remains stable at 7.7%, growing in absolute terms, but not faster than the overall market.
Efficiency: In the AC segment, Berliner Stadtwerke takes the lead with a score of 3.27 (Aug.: 2.67), while in DC, Ladeverbund+ has made it into the top 15 (1.28). The HPC segment is also worth noting: there are 8 new players in the top 15, and even at position 15 the efficiency score is 3x higher than in August.
Rise in charging sessions: 5.258 million charging sessions (compared to August 2025: +0.6%) with an estimated total consumption of around 131 million kWh (compared to August 2025: +0.55%).
Land use trends: City states have an above-average number of charging points near fast food locations (Berlin: 19.83%, Hamburg: 20.44%, leader: Bremen with 24.35%).
Large states with many transit routes have an above-average number of highway charging points: Saarland: 8.81%, Rhineland-Palatinate: 6.39%, Hesse: 5.83%, Lower Saxony: 5.12%.
